As a planner, I find humor in how so very unplanned my life actually is. With my husband's crazy oil field schedule it is next to impossible to "plan" much of anything together. This was a hard transition for us over the last year, but I think we are finally mastering the art of timing and letting go the need to control our lives.
What a treat it was to be able to have a Sunday afternoon together to pick out our very first real Christmas tree. We spent a few hours at Sorghum Mill Tree Farm not even a mile from where our new house will be. (We close in 6 weeks - Big squeal!!!)
We took our kiddos (dogs), Luna & Cupid with us to help us choose the perfect tree. They wanted so badly to roam free amongst the 7 fields, but we kept them beside us long enough to capture a few meaningful moments as a family.
We found our tree in Field 6 and reserved it with a special tag I brought along. After Thanksgiving we will go and chop it down with a saw while enjoying hot chocolate and Christmas music played by this adorable family-owned tree farm. If you ask me what my perfect Sunday afternoon would look like.. well, here it is.
